Liscie, 2007
"Liscie" is a series of charcoal/graphite drawings on rice paper incorporating elements made in rubber latex, providing these drawings with three-dimensional properties. Rice paper and rubber latex both refer to human skin and reflect its fragility and proneness to gradual change. "Liscie" in Polish means "leaves." Each drawing is one "leaf" (lisc), from Proto-Indo-European "leup"- ("to peel, break off".) The figures in the series are drawn gently, they seem to disappear under the latex's skin-like surface.
